This week’s video features the hymn “Trusting Jesus.” The lyrics were written by Edgar Page Stites in 1876. After serving in the Civil War, Stites became a riverboat pilot and was later a missionary in South Dakota. The music was written by Ira D. Sankey, the song leader for Dwight L. Moody. It was first published in 1878.
Simply trusting every day,
Trusting through a stormy way;
Even when my faith is small,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Brightly doth His Spirit shine
Into this poor heart of mine;
While He leads I cannot fall;
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Singing if my way is clear,
Praying if the path be drear;
If in danger for Him call;
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Trusting Him while life shall last,
Trusting Him till earth be past;
Till within the jasper wall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Chorus
Trusting as the moments fly,
Trusting as the days go by;
Trusting Him whate’er befall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Thank you for listening!
“3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;
(Psalms 37:3-6)
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.”
