Only Trust Him

This week’s video features the hymn “Only Trust Him” Lyrics and music were written in 1869 by John Hart Stockton (1813-1877). Stockton was a preacher, musician, composer. He wrote a number of hymns, and published two gospel song books towards the end of his life.

Dwight L. Moody and his music director Ira Sankey were on their way to England in 1873. During the voyage across the ocean, Sankey discovered Stockton’s hymn. Shortly thereafter he began using the hymn during revival meetings.

Come, ev’ry soul by sin oppressed,
There’s mercy with the Lord,
And He will surely give you rest
By trusting in His Word.

For Jesus shed His precious blood,
Rich blessings to bestow;
Plunge now into the crimson flood
That washes white as snow.

Yes, Jesus is the Truth, the Way,
That leads you into rest:
Believe in Him without delay
And you are fully blest.

Chorus:

Only trust Him, only trust Him,
Only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you,
He will save you now.

Thank you for listening!

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

(Romans 10:9)

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

(1 John 5:13)
