This week’s video features another piece by Felix Mendelssohn, Songs Without Words Op. 19 No. 1. Mendelssohn composed eight volumes of Songs Without Words, each with six pieces. This first volume was published in 1832. His sister Fanny Mendelssohn wrote a number of similar pieces, and it’s possible Felix was inspired by the style. He wrote several for her birthday in 1828.
